Graduate Hall Director, Office of Residence Life – Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, OH

July 2013 – Present

  • Serve with hall director and student desk manager on Hall Leadership Team

  • Supervise student desk manager in overseeing 17 student desk clerks and daily front desk operations

  • Lead monthly student desk clerk meetings with student desk manager and weekly resident advisor staff meetings with hall director

  • Co-supervise a staff of 17 resident advisors, directly supervising 8 individual resident advisors through regular one-on-one meetings and performance evaluations

  • Plan, implement, and assess a pilot programming model, the Centennial Achievement Program, aimed at enhancing staff-resident interactions and increasing retention among first-year students

  • Co-advise Hall Council with hall director and manage its associated $3,000 budget

  • Hear cases regarding violations of the Student Code of Conduct and Community Living Standards within the residence hall, maintain notes and upload documents in the Maxient online conduct management system, have educational conversations regarding conduct situations, and apply appropriate sanctions when needed

  • Participate in the on-call duty rotation, and provide consultation and emergency response as necessary

  • Build and maintain a positive working relationship with representatives of Capstone Campus Management as part of the Office of Residence Life’s public-private partnership, as well as other campus partners

  • Serve on the Student Staff Recruitment and Selection Action Team, and teach one section of the 8-week Resident Advisor training course during the spring semester

  • Serve on the Diversity Action Team to plan events including the annual Tunnel of Oppression, Black Issues Conference, and Latino Issues Conference

  • Update, edit, and revise Office of Residence Life buildings Comprehensive Emergency Action Plan (CEAP) documents in conjunction with hall staff and university Risk Management office

  • Examine access control upgrade diagrams for shift from Casi-Rusco to Lenel access control and security system

  • Attend and observe design-build meetings for the Greek Housing Project and subsequent follow-up meetings with supervisor

  • Coordinate with American Interiors to identify and assess residence hall lounge spaces for furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E) inventory, assessment, and lifespan estimation

  • Attend residence hall elevator upgrade project update meetings

  • Replace all evacuation plan signage in McDonald Hall residence hall

  • Collaborate with campus partners, including Risk Management, Campus Operations, and Fraternity and Sorority Life, to evaluate and disseminate information and action plans to necessary constituents in a timely manner

  • Selected via ACUHO-I Housing Internship Program

  • Coordinated logistics, including registration, room and key checks, check-in, linens, and maintenance, for conference groups utilizing campus facilities during the summer

  • Managed and led a team of 6 conference housing assistants to ensure successful completion of pre-conference assignments and resident assistant duties

  • Selected via NODA Internship Program

  • Co-supervised 18 Orientation Leaders and 4 Orientation Scholars, specifically those working with family programs

  • Developed and implemented teambuilding and training sessions for orientation staff retreat and training

  • Oversaw early arrival, student, and family member check-in processes, in addition to student evening activities

  • Assembled and distributed monthly Suffolk Scoop e-newsletters for 8,800 subscribed family members

  • Evaluated and assessed first-year, transfer, and family member orientation programs and created an executive summary of analysis and recommendations for future programs

  • Developed Ram Academy extended orientation programming curriculum based on the Social Change Model of Leadership Development
